A Van Buren man was sentenced on Thursday to 30 years worth of jail time after one decade of special parole. He was arraigned with one count of transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.Jeffrey Callen Gonzagowski Jr., 39, was accused of bringing a minor from Mt. Ida in Arkansas to Oklahoma with the intention of sexual intercourse. Gonzagowski was seized in December 2020. In March 2021, the accused pled guilty.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) probed the case of the sexual assault of the minor in September 2014. As part of Project Safe Childhood, a campaign across the United States to combat the bolstering epidemic of child sexual abuse and exploitation, Gonzagowski was seized and taken into custody. The project was instituted in May 2006 by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Assistant U.S. Attorney Tyler Williams set forth legal proceedings in the incident in accordance with the initiative of Project Safe Childhood.

Judge P.K. Holmes III in the United States District Court in Fort Smith oversaw the incarcerating hearing. Acting US lawyer David Clay Fowlkes of the Western District of Arkansas made the declaration of Gonzagowski’s plea.
United States Attorneys’ Offices and CEOS spearheaded Project Safe Childhood marshals state, federal, and local resources in order to find, seize, and take to court persons who exploit children online, identify suspects, and rescue victims.
