According to WBUR, a judge in Boston said a group of Venezuelan migrants can sue the company that flew them to Martha’s Vineyard. These Venezuelan migrants around 50 of them were tricked into going to Martha’s Vineyard from San Antonio, Texas with promises of jobs and homes. The judge’s decision lets them take legal action against Vertol Systems Co. a company in Florida that arranged their flight to Massachusetts for a lot of money.

This case highlights the migrant vulnerability and the difficulty in holding perpetrators accountable across states. Florida paid Vertol $1.5 million for the flights raising questions about their involvement. This underscores the importance of protecting Venezuelan migrant rights and holding anyone accountable for exploitation whether for personal or political gain.
