When to Expect Your SSDI Payments: Know the Schedule

This Wednesday, July 17, Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) beneficiaries born between the 11th and 20th of any month will receive their payments. However, some lucky recipients may receive double payments in certain months due to the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) payment schedule. The SSA has a staggered payment system, with payments issued on the second, third, or fourth Wednesday of the month based on birth dates.

SSDI Payment Dates: Understanding the Variations

Some SSDI recipients may receive their payments on different dates, such as those who enrolled before May 1997 or receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) who receive their payment on the 1st of each month. Others who live abroad or have their Medicare premiums paid by their state may receive their payment on the 3rd of the month.

Certain SSDI recipients can receive double payments in specific months due to the SSA’s policy of advancing payments when scheduled dates fall on weekends or holidays. For example, in May, beneficiaries received their first payment on May 1, but since July 1 fell on a Saturday, their payment was moved up to June 30. Similarly, in August, the SSA will advance the September payment to August 30, allowing recipients to receive both their August and September payments in the same month, according to the report of Marca.
