Summer Food Assistance for Ohio Families
What You Need to Know About SUN Bucks
According to the74million, Summer can be a hard time for families who rely on free or reduced school meals. But a new program is here to help. It’s called Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer, or SUN Bucks. This program gives each eligible student $120 to buy food during the summer.
The program is special because it’s the first one like it in over 50 years. It will help 840,000 Ohio students get the food they need. The money will be added to their existing cards or sent to them on a new card. This way, families can buy healthy food for their kids.
When and How to Receive Your SUN Bucks Benefits
If your family gets this benefit, you’ll get the money by July 31. If you don’t get it, you should contact the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. This program lets families choose what food they want to buy, which is helpful for families with kids who have food allergies or are picky eaters. With SUN Bucks, families can make sure their kids have healthy food all summer long.
