According to Politico, President Joe Biden made a big change in healthcare allowing many immigrants who came to the U.S. as kids to join Obamacare. The rule announced on Friday helps those in the DACA program who don’t have legal status and can’t get government health insurance. Around 100,000 DACA recipients are expected to join subsidized health plans in the next year. Joe Biden is talking a lot about healthcare and defending Obamacare as he runs for president again. Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra said they’re committed to giving healthcare to everyone including DACA recipients who are working hard for the American dream. The rule changes the meaning of “lawfully present” to include DACA recipients so they can get marketplace subsidies. It doesn’t meet the original goal of helping 129,000 Americans because it doesn’t include opening Medicaid programs in states but DACA recipients who meet income rules can still get marketplace subsidies.
This rule lets DACA recipients in some states join a basic health program. It helps those who make too much for Medicaid but can’t afford Obamacare plans. The rule starts on November 1 when Obamacare sign-ups begin. It aims to fix the problem of DACA recipients not being able to access important federal programs even though they can work legally in the U.S. under DACA. Joe Biden is using his powers to help Dreamers which is very different from what Trump did when he tried to end DACA. With this rule Joe Biden wants to keep his promise of making healthcare fair for everyone. It means DACA recipients can get important health coverage as they live and work in the U.S.

DACA Recipients Gain Access to Obamacare Plans
Furthermore, this rule change represents a significant stride towards achieving greater inclusivity and equity in healthcare access within the United States. By extending eligibility for Obamacare plans to DACA recipients the Joe Biden administration acknowledges the valuable contributions these individuals make to society and seeks to ensure they have the necessary support to flourish in their adopted homeland. The decision to include DACA recipients in the pool of individuals eligible for subsidized health plans underscores President Joe Biden‘s commitment to upholding the principles of fairness and compassion in healthcare policy. It signals a departure from previous exclusionary practices and sends a clear message that all members of society regardless of their immigration status deserve access to essential healthcare services.
