Affordable housing in Ojai Valley may start its construction by November.
Camino de Salud’s Affordable Housing Project
The Camino de Salud affordable housing project in the Ojai Valley received over $3.5 million in federal funding, with the final gap in financing for the said affordable housing project expected to be filled by the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program.
Construction of the 49-unit affordable housing project could begin in November if the tax credit application is approved.
The affordable housing project is aimed at helping low-income Ventura County residents and those experiencing homelessness.
According to a published article by SmartNews, the affordable housing project will offer affordable rent based on income.
The said affordable housing project would also come with supportive services such as medical care, training for job opportunities, and amenities like on-site maintenance and a community garden.
Ventura County Board of Supervisors
In a published article by Ojai Valley News, the Ventura County Board of Supervisors is set to decide on whether to revoke the conditional use permit for Santa Clara Waste Water, the site of a devastating explosion in 2014.
This explosion caused injuries, evacuations, and legal actions. The property has gone through foreclosure auctions and recently changed ownership.
The Planning Director is suggesting the permit be revoked following the withdrawal of the applicant’s application. A public hearing is scheduled for March 26.
