Sacramento County Launches Financial Assistance Program for Minority Families

According to CBS News, Sacramento County is starting a new program to help African American and Native-American families who are struggling with money. This $725 monthly program to help them with their finances. It wants to make things fairer for these families and help them become more financially stable. Even though some county supervisors were unsure about the $725 monthly program at first they decided to support it because they saw it could help fix some of the unfairness in society.

The county decided on giving $725 monthly after seeing that African American kids were getting involved in Child Protective Services more often. They hope that by giving money they can make things better for these families and give them more chances in life. Supervisor Phil Serna says they want to help people become independent by getting more education and better jobs not just give them money. Some people worried about the $725 monthly program thinking it might not use money wisely or help families enough. But county officials believe the $725 monthly program can do a lot of good. Michelle Callejas who works with families, says they will use data to make sure the $725 monthly program helps the right people and fixes problems like homelessness. With everyone agreeing Sacramento County is ready to start this $725 monthly program and make things better for families who need it.
