According to Cape Charles Mirror, Congresswoman Jen Kiggans from Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District is supporting a new law called the Credit for Caring Act, H.R. 7165. This law wants to help people who take care of family members who need long-term help. Kiggans, who used to work as a nurse for older people, says caregivers make big sacrifices, so they deserve help.
More than 48 million Americans take care of family members. The costs can be very high. The Credit for Caring Act wants to give caregivers up to $5,000 as a tax credit.
