Bipartisan Bill Proposes Chip Technology for SNAP Cards
According to the report of 10 BOSTON, there a new plan from Oregon Senator Ron Wyden to make SNAP cards safer for low-income families. These cards help people buy groceries but lately they have been stealing from them. The proposed law supported by both Democrats and Republicans wants to add special chips to the cards to stop this theft. Senators like Bill Cassidy and John Fetterman along with representatives Andy Kim and Mike Lawler are backing this idea to keep families safe from cybercrime.

Bipartisan Bill Aims to Protect SNAP Users from Theft and Fraud
Many families like Liliya Kondratyuk from Massachusetts have suffered because of these thefts. Even though Congress said victims could get their money back Senator Wyden thinks that’s not enough. He says we need to fix the problem itself. The new law doesn’t just add chips to the cards it also wants to make sure the cards are regularly updated to fight fraud and replaced quickly if stolen.
