According to Money Talks News, some taxpayers have yet to claim rebates for the stimulus checks issued by the federal government in 2020. There are individuals who have not  received their entitled funds because they did not file a tax return for that year. The IRS has emphasized a nearing deadline of May 17 for eligible individuals to collect these funds potentially amounting to thousands of dollars.

To obtain their stimulus checks the eligible taxpayers must file a tax return for the year 2020 regardless of whether they had income during that period. This filing allows them to claim the unpaid funds as a rebate which will be included in their tax refund. Known as the 2020 Recovery Rebate Credit and this payment can be claimed by individuals who meet specific criteria such as citizenship, independence from another taxpayer and income below a certain threshold.
