According to the KIMA, in its first year the Working Families Tax Credit (WFTC) program was a big help for people in Washington. About 163,000 families got approved and received over $100 million in refunds. But, there are still lots of people who could get help from this program.

Washington Working Families Tax Credit Boosts Financial Aid Access
But many of them haven’t applied yet. Now, with new rules families can claim the credit for up to three years after their federal tax return was due. This gives families more time to get the money they deserve. To qualify, families need to meet some simple rules. They must have a valid Social Security Number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number. They should have lived in Washington for at least half the year and meet certain age or family requirements. Also, they need to have filed a federal tax return and be eligible for the federal Earned Income Tax Credit. This program is a great way to boost financial aid for families in Washington who need it most.
