Tennessee Senate’s Bill

A bill in the Tennessee Senate is proposing to repeal a state property tax on businesses. This bill by the Tennessee Senate will also potentially lead to tax refunds.

According to a published article by SmartNews, these refunds, if the Tenessee Senate’s bill gets approved, will be received by many businesses in the state.

Court rulings have deemed the tax unconstitutional, prompting lawmakers to consider this bill proposed by the Tennessee Senate.

Tenessee Senate’s Senate Bill 1692

In a published article by the Claiborne Progress, Senate Bill 1692 by the Tennessee Senate prohibits the booting of vehicles with restrictions for municipalities that allow it.

It requires commercial lots that boot vehicles to have an attendant for quick removal. The bill approved by the Tennessee Senate also mandates proper notification for towing and limits fees for releasing vehicles.

Sen. Jack Johnson from the Tennessee Senate introduced the bill to address complaints of unfair towing and booting practices.

The Tenessee Senate’s bill also requires parking lots with automated license plate readers to display this information.

The companion bill connected to the Tenessee Senate’s bill stated earlier which is called the House Bill 1731, has not been heard in committee yet and is still waiting for approval from the Tenessee Senate.
