NYC’s Striking Success in SNAP and Cash Assistance Applications
Mayor Eric Adams shared that they’ve almost finished handling a big pile of SNAP and cash assistance applications that built up last summer, reaching over 50,000. The city has now cleared 97% of cash assistance applications and 90% of SNAP applications. The mayor says this success is thanks to hiring almost a thousand new people and making improvements in technology to speed up the process.
