The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has moved to stop Julius T. Price a tax preparer from Orlando from working permanently according to the publish article of Nice Ville. They filed a complaint against Price and his company Price’s Accounting Firm Inc., saying he cheated on clients’ tax returns. Price has been preparing taxes since 2003, but the complaint says he did things to make clients’ tax bills lower than they should be and get them bigger refunds by making up fake information. The complaint was filed in a court in Florida and talks about Price’s actions from 2018 to 2023. It says he made up fake businesses to show fake losses and lied to get tax credits like the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), and made up expenses like medical bills and mortgage interest to claim deductions that weren’t real. Deputy Assistant Attorney General David A. Hubbert said Price’s actions cost the government over $1.5 million in taxes. The IRS wants people to be careful when choosing a tax preparer and has made a list of approved preparers to help.
