The Pilot Program’s Effects

In a published article by Community Impact, the one-year pilot program in Austin provided 135 low-income households with $1,000 monthly checks to test the impact of guaranteed income.

Results showed participants used more than 50% of the funds for housing, leading to improved housing security and a decrease in eviction risk. Participants also reported being able to afford better meals and experiencing improved mental health.
