The Illinois Department of Revenue began accepting 2023 tax returns on January 29 and taxpayers are encouraged to file electronically for faster transactions.

Tax season has officially begun, and millions of Americans nationwide have started filing their 2023 income tax returns. Along with this, taxpayers are also asking when they will receive their tax refund to get extra money amidst the rising inflation rate.
In a published article in Yahoo News, the Illinois Department of Revenue encouraged taxpayers to file electronically for faster transactions and to receive tax refunds early as well. Traditionally, it will only take 21 days to receive the tax refunds.

How to File Electronically?
According to an article published in NBC Chicago, taxpayers can use MyTax Illinois for free filing or they can also consult professionals. The platform allows taxpayers for their payments, inquiry responses, and refund status checks.
Furthermore, taxpayers who file error-free should expected their tax refunds within 4 weeks through a direct deposit. Meanwhile, IDOR Director David Harris said, “Depending on circumstances, taxpayers may be able to reduce the amount of taxes owed through tax credits.”
