Department of Revenue to Accept Applications for Enhanced Rebates in Mid-January

A wave of financial relief is on the horizon for thousands of Americans as the Department of Revenue prepares to accept applications for an increased $1,000 rebate from the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program. Beginning in mid-January, eligible applicants will have the opportunity to submit their applications for rebates on property taxes and rent payments made in 2023.

This surge in financial assistance comes as the maximum amount eligible recipients may receive has been raised from $650 to $1,000. Notably, homeowners and renters with an income up to $45,000 are eligible for the rebate, and those with an income capped at $8,000 will receive the full $1,000 amount.

Additionally, New Jersey has launched the Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters (ANCHOR) program, which has already provided relief to 950,000 households and aims to continue its support on a rolling basis. This year, payments have increased from a range of $450 to $1,500 to $700 to $1,750, benefiting applicants under 65 with amounts ranging from $450 to $1,500.
