BIDEN SWEEPING ACTIONS

Biden cleared $4.8 billion in student loan debt for 80,300 people. U.S. Department of Education Public Service Loan Forgiveness program modifications and income-driven repayment arrangements enabled this relief.

Education Secretary Miguel Cardona emphasized the administration’s unprecedented debt relief, overcoming access obstacles. Nearly 46,000 income-driven repayment program participants will get $2 billion for payment monitoring errors.

Additionally, $2.6 billion will cancel 34,400 public service debts over 10 years, correcting Public Service Loan Forgiveness concerns.

Over $132 Billion in Student Loan Relief Achieved Despite Supreme Court Setback

Over 3.6 million Americans have been able to get rid of their student loans, which added up to about $132 billion in debt. Even though the Supreme Court turned down an earlier plan to cancel up to $20,000 in loans, Biden is still determined to keep his campaign promise to help people with their student loans. The newest bill is mostly about improving the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program and making sure that people who need credit get it.

Biden talks about things he has done well, like increasing Pell Grants and making the Income-Driven Repayment plan, which is very helpful. In light of the Supreme Court’s ruling, the government is still looking into other ways to help students with their loans.
