Planning to Avail Affordable Connectivity Program? Here are 2023 Qualifications

According to an article on the Affordable Connectivity Program, the discount toward internet services will be up to $30 a month for eligible households and up to $75 a month for eligible households on Tribal lands. A one-time discount of up to $100 will also be provided for eligible households to purchase a desktop computer, laptop, or tablet. However, they must first contribute more than $10 but less than $50 for the purchase.

Who is eligible for the Affordable Connectivity Program?

An article on the Federal Communications Commission states that to be eligible, a household must earn an income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. Otherwise, a member of the household must meet at least one of the eligibility criteria. A household member may have received a Federal Pell Grant in the current award year or met the eligibility criteria for a current low-income internet program.

In addition, they may also have participated in either the SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, WIC, Lifeline, veterans’ pension or survivor benefits, Free and Reduced-Price School Lunch Program or School Breakfast Program, or the Federal Housing Assistance. The Federal Housing Assistance includes the Public Housing, Housing Choice Vouchers, Project-Based Rental Assistance, or the Affordable Housing Programs for American Indians, Alaska Natives, or Native Hawaiians.

If the household lives on eligible Tribal lands, the member may have participated in either the Tribal TANF, Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations, Tribal Head Start, or the Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance.
