In northern Maine, Presque Isle has a mix of city stuff and country charm. It’s got three colleges a busy mall and a good airport. But there’s a problem: a lot of Americans here are poor. The city’s crime rate is higher than Maine’s average but lower than the whole country’s. Americans here have a bigger chance of having their car stolen or being robbed. With about 8,937 Americans, Presque Isle is trying hard to grow while keeping everyone safe.

Rising Crime Rates Pose Challenges for Lewiston, Maine’s Culturally Diverse Hub

Lewiston, a big city in Maine is known for its mix of cultures and good schools. But things have changed lately. The crime rates are going up, making Lewiston one of the riskier cities in Maine. There are more cases of murder, robbery, assault, burglary, theft, and car theft than usual. With over 36,000 Americans Lewiston is trying to keep its unique culture alive while dealing with these safety challenges.
