South Bend’s violent crime rate is 1,728 per 100,000 people (the highest), and its property crime rate is 3,663 per 100,000 people (the fourth highest), making it as one of the most dangerous cities in Indiana.

However, Evansville ranks as one of the most dangerous cities in Indiana, residents in Evansville face a higher crime risk compared to the state average, with crime rates five times higher per square mile. Both property and violent crime rates in Evansville exceed the national average by a factor of two.
