Here’s a list of the most dangerous neighborhoods in Houston;

At the top of the list of the most dangerous neighborhoods on Houston is Far North, located on the outskirt near the airport. In 2022, crime rates in Far North were alarmingly high, with 8, 153 incidents per 100, 000 people, 53% above the Houston average and 3.5 times the national average.

This neighborhood has a particularly high violent crime rates, reachng 2, 455 incident per 100, 000 people, which makes it as one of the most dangerous cneighborhoods in Houston. Additionally, property crimes are also rampant, totalling 5, 698 incident per 100, 000 people, three times the national average. These concerning statistics of Far North demonstrate why it is one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in Houston.

Next on the list is Northeast, encompassing East Houston, Settegast, and North Shadydale, with a population of 129, 659, is officially rank as one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in Houston. In 2022, the Northeast recorded a total crime rate of 6, 710 incidents per 100, 000 people, which is below the national average. However, violent crimes were notably high, with 2, 079 incidents per 100, 000 people. Additionally, while property crime in the Northeast isn’t as rampant as in Far North, it still stands at 4, 631 incident per 100, 000 people.

Lastly, the MacGregor neighborhood in Southeast Houston’s Third Ward, ranks among the most dangerous neighborhood in Houston, migh not immediately appear as such. This seemingly peaceful place faces challenges, which includes low income apartments scattered around, high violent crime rate and rampant theft. This neighborhood has a violent crime rate of 7, 589 per 1, 000 residents, translating to a 1 in 13 chance of being a victim each year.
