Police Chase Ends in Crash, Four Hospitalized in Hawthorne Incident

Suspect Vehicle Crashes into Building After High-Speed Pursuit; Firefighters Rescue Two Women

According to CBS NEWS, a police chase involving an armed suspect ended in a serious crash in Hawthorne early Sunday morning leaving four people hospitalized. The pursuit started around 9:40 a.m. when police were called to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at the corner of 118th Street and Freeman Avenue. The victim had said that someone in a white Chevrolet Silverado pointed a gun at them. Police found the suspect vehicle quickly and one of the suspects ran away on foot but was quickly caught by officers.

The other people in the Chevrolet ignored police orders and sped away. The chase went through residential streets until the driver lost control near 116th Street and Hawthorne Boulevard crashing into a building. The crash severely damaged the car. When police arrived they found four people inside. Two men got out on their own and were detained while firefighters had to rescue two women from the wreckage.

Injured Individuals Stable; Police Confirm No Additional Suspects and No Ongoing Threat

The injured people were taken to the hospital where one man and two women are in stable condition. Police found a gun at 118th Street and Birch Avenue and confirmed that no suspects are still at large. Authorities say there is no ongoing threat to the public.
