Chad Doerman Sentenced to Life Without Parole for Killing Three Sons
Victim’s Family Speaks Out on Tragic Loss and Community Impact
According to True Crime News, in a devastating case Chad Doerman 33 has been sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole for killing his three young sons in Batavia, Ohio. On August 2 Doerman pleaded guilty to aggravated murder and felonious assault avoiding the death penalty. The horrific event took place on June 15, 2023 when Doerman’s wife Laura called for help after finding that her children had been shot. Doerman was discovered outside their home with his three sons dead in the yard. Laura had been injured while trying to protect them.
On the day of the shooting Doerman acted strangely carrying a Bible and talking to himself before getting a rifle from his gun safe. Though he initially pleaded not guilty his defense claimed he was suffering from severe mental illness. The prosecutor described the crime as incredibly cruel and shocking causing great pain to the family, community, and emergency responders. During the sentencing Laura Doerman and her stepdaughter shared their deep grief and the emptiness left by the boys’ deaths.

Prosecutor Mark Tekulve emphasized the certainty of Doerman’s punishment stating firmly Chad Doerman will die in prison ensuring that he will never harm anyone again.
