19-Year-Old Sentenced to Life in Prison for Murdering 15-Year-Old Girl in Her Bedroom

19-year-old Jacobean Brown has been sentenced to life in prison without the chance of ever getting out plus an additional six years for the murder of 15-year-old Madison Gesswein. According to True Crime News, the sentence was announced on August 7, 2024 by the Griffin Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office. Brown was found guilty in July of serious charges including murder, assault and using a gun while committing a crime resulting him to be sentenced to life. The events leading up to this terrible act started on the night of February 20, 2023. Madison was texting with Brown and two other boys Justus Smith and Yeshua Mathis. The conversation turned into an argument and later that night, Brown, Smith and Mathis decided to go to Madison’s home. They brought a loaded 9 mm gun with an extended magazine and cleaning supplies with them showing they planned to commit a crime and possibly cover it up. When they arrived at Madison’s apartment Brown climbed into her bedroom through a window. Once inside he found Madison lying on her bed and shot her in the head. Madison’s mother discovered her daughter’s body the next morning at around 6 a.m. a heartbreaking moment that shocked the entire community.

All three lads were taken into custody on February 22, 2023 a mere two days later. The fact that they carried cleaning products with them indicated to the investigators that the crime had been planned beforehand. This particular detail revealed their intention to conceal their actions demonstrating a troubling lack of regret or concern for Madison’s life. Brown will be sentenced to life due to his conviction without the possibility of release. Still the case is not quite closed. September 9, 2024 is when the trials for the other two boys, Smith and Mathis are set to begin. They are both charged with the same terrible offenses which include murder, assault, and using a gun during criminal activity. The tragic consequences of violence and the profound loss experienced by Madison’s family and friends are brought to light by this case. Brown was sentenced to life which is a reflection of the gravity of his crimes and the court system’s will to hold him accountable.
