Driver Found Dead in Trunk After Night Out Turns Deadly, Perpetrator Faces 43-Year Sentence
Man Convicted of Stabbing Driver 59 Times Over Gas Money
A 22-year-old guy named Marvin Ernesto Funez-Martinez has been found guilty of the vicious murder of Marco Alexander Pulido-Castro a driver he hired for a night on the town, according to True Crime News. After a jury found Marvin Ernesto Funez-Martinez guilty on July 26 of second-degree murder and carrying a dangerous weapon with the intent to injure he now faces 43 years in prison. October is when the sentence is set to occur. Early on October 29, 2023 in the wee hours the terrible event took place. The Charles County Sheriff’s Office stated that patrol officers were called in in response to a weapon-wielding individual’s report. Officers were led by witnesses to a car’s trunk where they found Pulido-Castro’s body with several stab wounds in the fetal position. Marvin Ernesto Funez-Martinez was found and arrested behind his house. At the time of his arrest he had numerous cuts on his hand indicating a violent struggle. Prosecutors revealed that Marvin Ernesto Funez-Martinez had hired Pulido-Castro to drive him and two other people to a club in Washington D.C. Pulido-Castro joined them inside the club and later drove them back to their house in White Plains Maryland. On the way back, they stopped at a gas station and Pulido-Castro asked for more money to fill the tank. His car started overheating but he managed to get everyone home safely.

Once they arrived, Pulido-Castro stayed outside to check his overheating engine. Meanwhile, Marvin Ernesto Funez-Martinez went inside the house grabbed a kitchen knife and began stabbing Pulido-Castro while he was examining his car. Pulido-Castro tried to escape crossing the street but Funez-Martinez pursued him and continued the assault. In total, Funez-Martinez stabbed Pulido-Castro 59 times and knocked out some of his teeth. After the stabbing Funez-Martinez placed Pulido-Castro’s body in the trunk of the car and fled to hide behind his house. Funez-Martinez admitted to the killing throughout the course of the inquiry. Crime scene investigators discovered the victim’s blood on Funez-Martinez’s hands, the attacker’s knife and his sweatshirt. A young life was cruelly cut short over a small financial dispute and this awful crime has left a town in shock. The case serves as a stark reminder of both the terrible effects of violent crime and how crucial it is that the victims and their families receive justice.
