Toddler Found Malnourished and Infested with Insects in Filthy Apartment

A 26-year-old mother named Rabyah Muballigh was found guilty of felonious assault and child endangerment on July 25. On July 25 she was sentenced to seven to 10.5 years in prison for what the authorities are calling a “extreme case of child abuse.” This information is reported by True Crime News. On January 8 when Fairborn Police and Fire officials responded to a 911 call stating a toddler was having difficulty breathing the matter became public. Upon the arrival of the police the caller going by the name “Ariella Simpson,” refused to unlock the door. They went into the apartment which they described as being bug-infested and dirty. Officers entered and discovered a three-year-old girl curled up in a bedroom with only a soiled diaper on. The child was gasping for air but was still alive. She was immediately taken to a local hospital and later transferred to the intensive care unit due to her severe condition. The child was extremely malnourished weighing only 16 pounds and covered in insect bites. Doctors determined that her medical issues were a direct result of neglect and abuse by her mother. Muballigh was quickly identified as the primary suspect and was taken into custody. She admitted to using a fake name when calling 911 and revealed that she had only taken her daughter to a pediatrician once in her life. After a forensic evaluation deemed her competent to stand trial she was found guilty of the charges on May 30.
