Community in Mourning After Brutal Attack Leaves One Dead and Another Injured

According to True Crime News in Sumter County, Florida, 16-year-old Alexander Hernandez is accused of fatally stabbing his 15-year-old friend Connor Michael Gill, during a sleepover on June 1. A 48-year-old man who intervened was also stabbed and is in stable condition in the ICU. Hernandez and Gill both homeschooled had left Sumter County schools. On the day of the attack, Hernandez received a scythe and pocket knife ordered online and walked nearly six miles to Gill’s house to carry out the attack. He was later apprehended while still carrying the weapons.

Hernandez is held at Sumter County Jail on charges including premeditated first-degree murder aggravated assault, and armed burglary. The investigation continues with more charges possible and the sheriff’s office called the incident a violent and premeditated attack, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
