Double Life Sentence for Shamel Capers: A Case of Murder and Redemption

Capers was arrested in New Jersey and will be brought back to New York City to face the charges. His friend, Dante Hunter, was also charged with the same crimes. The police found that Hunter pulled out his gun first and shot the bullet that killed Taylor. The police found many bullet casings at the scene. Capers’ case is important because he was previously accused of killing a 14-year-old girl named D’Aja Robinson in 2013. He was sent to prison for 15 years, but his conviction was later overturned. Capers’ mother says that her son was wrongly accused and that he needs a fair trial this time. She says that history is repeating itself and that Shamel will strongly defend himself in court.
