Suspect Charged with First-Degree Murder
Wheat Ridge Police Arrest Second Suspect in Peter Damian Arguello Murder Investigation
According to Denver 7, in Wheat Ridge, Colorado a second person has been arrested in connection with the tragic death of Peter Damian Arguello the owner of an antique shop. Mr. Arguello was fatally shot during a robbery at his store Peter Damian Fine Jewelry & Antiques in November 2023. Surveillance footage revealed the harrowing moment when a suspect brandished a gun at Mr. Arguello attempting to handcuff him. Despite Mr. Arguello’s resistance the assailant fired three shots leading to his untimely demise. Investigations led by the Wheat Ridge Police Department unveiled significant evidence implicating 41-year-old Charles Robinson Shay in the crime. DNA evidence from flex cuffs found at the scene matched that of Shay. Additionally a burned-out truck discovered by authorities contained items linking Shay to the robbery. Further scrutiny of surveillance footage revealed another truck tailing the burnt vehicle belonging to a deceased individual who was found to be connected to Shay. This truck was later reported stolen and located at Shay’s residence. Subsequent monitoring via a GPS locator placed on the stolen truck traced its movements to the antique store on two occasions in December. On December 26 the store’s security alarm was triggered prompting an investigation that revealed opened and emptied safes. Shay confessed to unlawfully entering the store on December 26 but denied stealing anything claiming there was nothing of value to take. Despite his denial he was charged with first-degree murder and second-degree burglary in January.

Michael McCormack Arrested in Wheat Ridge Murder Case
Just last month on March 7th authorities issued an arrest warrant for Michael McCormack the suspected accomplice of Charles Robinson Shay. Michael McCormack aged 50 was captured in the Black Hawk vicinity and now confronts multiple charges encompassing second-degree murder, second-degree kidnapping, aggravated robbery, and second-degree motor vehicle theft. Both Shay and Michael McCormack are currently in custody awaiting legal proceedings for their alleged involvement in the heinous crime that robbed Wheat Ridge of a cherished member of its community.
