According to WDAM7.com Danny Ray Cole, a resident of Laurel has been sentenced to almost six years in federal prison for possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute. He pleaded guilty on December 12, 2023. Cole was distributing pills containing 12.46 grams of methamphetamine and more illegal substances were found in his possession.

Cole’s indictment by a federal grand jury on June 6, 2023 marked the end of an investigation conducted jointly by Homeland Security Investigations and the Jones County Sheriff’s Department. The 70-month prison sentence underscores the seriousness of the drug-related charges against Cole and serves as a cautionary message to discourage others from engaging in similar activities. U.S. Attorney Todd W. Gee of the Southern District of Mississippi and Acting Special Agent in Charge Eric DeLaune of Homeland Security Investigations in New Orleans announced Cole’s sentencing on Thursday.
