According to News Channel Nebraska Central, In Grand Island, Nebraska Americans joined together to remember Officer Christopher Marcello who died in 2022. They collected $32,000 to help his family go to Washington D.C. and honor him. The Hall County Crime Stoppers group organized everything from paying for travel and hotels for Marcello’s family and helping with other expenses. Taylor Lemburg who is part of the group said they wanted to support Marcello’s family during their tough time. The trip is a way for the family to find closure and it lets the community show how much Christopher Marcello meant to them. Every year in Washington D.C. police officers from all over the country gather to remember officers who died while working. Grand Island Police Chief Kevin Denney is going on the trip. He’ll be biking with other officers to honor Marcello’s memory. Denney explained that the trip is important to remember Christopher Marcello and show support for his family. Officer Jose Rodriguez a close friend of Christopher Marcello was chosen by Marcello’s widow to go on the trip with her.
