Chief Zuidema Hails Community Cooperation and Stratified Policing
Violent Crimes Plummet by 50% in 2023, Credits to Stratified Policing
According to the report of WDBJ, in a recent announcement Lynchburg police shared some good news about crime going down in 2023. Chief Ryan Zuidema thanked both the cops and the community for working together to make it happen. They’ve been using a plan called stratified policing which helps them put resources where they’re needed most. This has led to a big drop in violent crimes like murders which went down by 50%.

Prioritizing Support and Justice for All
He said there’s been more forcible sex crimes up by 18% from the year before. They’re working hard to tackle this issue teaming up with Central Health to support victims better. Chief Zuidema wants to figure out why this increase is happening and make sure everyone feels safe to speak up. He made it clear that Lynchburg is committed to protecting everyone and making sure justice is served.
