According to WNEM, to boost safety and stop illegal stuff from getting into Genesee County Jail, they’re bringing in a new full-body scanner. The Sheriff, Chris Swanson, says this machine is super important for keeping both the staff and inmates safe. Last year, two deputies got exposed to fentanyl while helping an overdosed inmate so they realized they needed better ways to prevent such situations in Genesee County Jail. The county is spending $150,000 from its budget to get this upgraded technology showing how serious they are about everyone’s well-being.
