Edgewood Police Apprehend 18-Year-Old Suspect Following Shooting at Edgewood Walmart

John Fulfor, an 18-year-old adolescent, was apprehended in connection with a recent shooting incident that transpired at the Walmart in Edgewood. Officers were dispatched to reports of an armed individual attempting to hijack a truck on January 3; in response, an individual was shot in the arm. The subsequent sequence of events transpired on that day. The Edgewood Police Department identified the suspect as Fulford by analyzing Walmart surveillance footage.

Witnesses told the police that the suspect left the scene of the crime after killing someone. After an investigation that lasted a week, the police caught Fulford. He is being charged with aggravated battery and aggravated theft right now.

Support from the community helped catch Fulford; one member recognized his bike, which he had gotten the night of the killing as part of a program to help people who are dependent on drugs.

Edgewood Police Chief Roger Jimenez has said that he feels strongly that substantial reform is needed to stop people from committing crimes again. He has stressed the importance of pre-trial detention in this regard. It was clear that he didn’t like how gun violence offenders weren’t facing harsh punishments, and he stressed how these crimes needed to be limited.

Before this year, the Edgewood Walmart experienced a number of fires, among other complications. On Thursday afternoon, Fulford is scheduled to initiate his court proceedings. Continued apprehensions about community safety are highlighted by the incident, as is the critical need for efficacious strategies to deter and prevent criminal behavior of this nature.
