Former Talent Show Contestants Accuse Lythgoe of Sexual Assault and Harassment
The host of “American Idol” and “So You Think You Can Dance,” Nigel Lythgoe, is charged with a second count of sexual assault. Lythgoe was sued by two former “All American Girl” contestants on grounds of sexual assault, abuse, and harassment.
The lawsuit alleges that while filming, Lythgoe swatted and caressed candidates’ buttocks. In addition, it is asserted that he approached women inappropriately in his Los Angeles residence after the finales of the shows.
Lythgoe has not replied to the “All American Girl” lawsuit charges. This followed Paula Abdul’s complaint, which Lythgoe disputed and called offensive. This latest lawsuit’s anonymous plaintiffs are seeking a jury trial and damages under California’s Sexual Abuse and Cover-Up Accountability Act. Through this act, the Jane Does can sue outside of California and New York’s statute of limitations.
