‘I’m Finally Free: Gypsy Rose Blanchard Breaks Silence Post-Release

Gypsy Rose Blanchard thanked social media for its amazing support for the first time since her release from prison. The 32-year-old, wearing a New Orleans Saints NFL Jersey, recorded a TikTok and Instagram video about her excitement at being back home in Louisiana on a gorgeous day. She thanked people online for their encouragement and generosity.

Blanchard, who has been active on social media since her release, discussed her forthcoming endeavors. She discussed “The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard,” a January 5 Lifetime docuseries. She was proud of her upcoming book, “Released: Conversations on the Eve of Freedom,” which she described as a reflection on her 8.5 years of learning and experiences rather than a recounting of past events.

Blanchard smiled as she thanked her followers for their support and encouraged them to keep watching. Her message ended with a happy goodbye.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard was released from the Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri after eight years of murdering her mother, Claudine “Dee Dee” Blanchard. In June 2015, Gypsy Rose and her then-boyfriend Nick Godejohn were charged with murdering her mother. Authorities eventually established that Gypsy Rose was a sufferer of Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a form of child maltreatment in which a guardian creates disease.

Reflections, Wedding Bliss, and Moving Forward

In July 2016, Blanchard pled guilty to murdering her mother and received a 10-year sentence. She has posted about her life, including her wedding, on social media after her release. Her recent Instagram post showed her wearing her wedding band and expressed her excitement at finally wearing it. Blanchard married Louisiana teacher Ryan Scott Anderson on June 27, 2022, while in prison.
