In figures published Friday, Arkansas edged closer to 60,000 total new cases of COVID-19 for the month of August, but hospital numbers fell for the second day in a row.

Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 patients on ventilators fell by two to 352 a day after the state reached a new high. In the state’s critical care units, there are 528 COVID-19 patients. Thirty ICU beds are presently available in the state, but it’s unknown how many are suited for COVID-19 patients. On Tuesday, the state ran out of ICU beds for coronavirus patients for the first time since the outbreak started.
Vaccinations in Arkansas Spike
The total number of Arkansans who have received their complete vaccination is currently 1,196,560, up 6,166 in the past 24 hours. In the past 24 hours, the number of partly immunized Arkansans has dropped by 1,438, bringing the total to 346,346. As of Friday, 9,103 individuals in the state had received their third dosage of the vaccination, according to statistics.
More than 31,000 vaccination doses were administered in the state, a significant increase over previous days. However, a spokesperson for the Health Department stated that some of the dosages recorded on Thursday were data changes that had not occurred in the previous 24 hours.
