49ers vs. Jets third quarter thread: The Niners need to cash in on their red zone opportunities

Sauce Gardner did not play on the final drive against the 49ers, which is something to keep an eye on. It goes without saying that the Jets are going to struggle if they’re without their top cornerback.

It’s been an efficient half by Brock Purdy. He was 9-for-15 for 106 yards, and two of those were explosive plays to George Kittle and Jauan Jennings. Three other throws were in the teens. Above all, Purdy was only sacked once despite being under pressure early on.

The Jets couldn’t much of anything going. Aaron Rodgers was 7-11 for only 5.8yards per attempt. And Breece Hall averaged 2.5 yards per carry.

The 49ers seem like they’re in a good spot heading into the half, but they’ll need to convert in the red zone and stop relying on field goals, which happened three times. Purdy threw a beautiful pass in the end zone, but Brandon Aiyuk could not haul it in toward the end of the half.

It’s 16-7 at half, but the Niners should be up by more.
