Chiefs-Ravens Open Thread: A weather delay to kick off the season!

The NFL season gets going this evening, kicking off with the Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Baltimore Ravens. Fans of the San Francisco 49ers will have to wait through the weekend as they host the New York Jets on Monday Night Football.

Obviously, that Super Bowl loss still stings, so 49ers fans may be cheering for the Ravens in this matchup.

FanDuel Sportsbook has the Chiefs favored by three points. In the AFC Championship, the Chiefs were the underdogs, but the game was in Baltimore. The over/under is set at 46.5 points.

I really think this could be a close game. The Ravens are probably none too happy about how their season ended in the AFC Championship. That said, the Chiefs’ defense was able to hold the Raven’s offense to just 10 points in the aforementioned game. It’s a safe bet the Ravens will probably score a bit more here, but I’m all about betting the under of 47.5 with the defenses involved.

I want to say I’d go for the Ravens and the points, but three points doesn’t feel like enough in Kansas City, and there’s just too much of a chance of the offense doing something to put them up by 4 at the end of the game.

Derrick Henry also has +470 odds to score two touchdowns or more. Given the Chiefs’ issues with the run, I’m all over that bet.

The game was initially scheduled to begin at 5:20 p.m. PT, but inclement weather has caused a 20-minute delay, according to the broadcast.

Who are you rooting for tonight?
