Despite a slight decrease in crime last summer some neighborhoods remain particularly dangerous. According to PropertyClub’s 2023 rankings, the six most dangerous neighborhoods in Los Angeles are hotspots for crime with incidents often happening even in daylight. These areas are flagged for their higher crime rates making them places where residents and visitors need to be especially cautious.

Downtown Los Angeles
Downtown Los Angeles is reported by PropertyClub to have a crime rate that is 530% higher than the national average. The residents in this area are heavily affected by issues such as the homeless crisis, pickpocketing and robberies making it art of the most dangerous areas. Despite being surrounded by iconic landmarks like the Crypto.com Arena the risk of encountering crime in downtown LA remains significantly high.
West Adams
There is a 1 in 15 risk that a resident of the historic South LA neighborhood of West Adams may become a victim due to the high crime rate in the area. Robbery, assault, theft, and gun violence are common crimes in this neighborhood. The neighborhood’s residents continue to have serious concerns about the possibility of crime.
Wholesale District/Skid Row
With a “F” safety rating from Crimegrade.org the Wholesale District/Skid Row is home to one of the biggest homeless encampments in the nation. Compton
