City of Round Rock’s Home Repair Program Helps Low-Income Residents

The City of Round Rock is using a big part of its federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) money to fix homes for people with low and moderate incomes. Out of $642,233 in federal funds for this year, about $177,453 will go to the Home Repair program. This money will help fix around six homes making them safer and more comfortable.

One success story is Alicia De La Cruz, who got a new roof through the program. Her old roof was leaking and damaging her living space. After 42 years in her home, she was very happy to get a new roof at no cost. The program can cover up to $25,000 per home and so De La Cruz’s $8,000 roof was a big help for her, according to the report of KXAN.
