10X Higher Denial Rate: HealthPartners Dumps UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage Network Citing Delayed Care

HealthPartners is leaving UnitedHealthcare’s Medicare Advantage network next year due to high claim denial rates, which have caused delays in patient care, and UnitedHealthcare is working to find a solution while still allowing access to HealthPartners facilities until the end of the year.

HealthPartners to Exit UnitedHealthcare’s Medicare Advantage Network Due to High Claim Denials

According to the report of CBS News, HealthPartners announced it will leave UnitedHealthcare’s Medicare Advantage network starting next year. They say this is because UnitedHealthcare has denied many of their claims, up to ten times more than other insurers. This problem has caused delays in patient care, leading HealthPartners to make this decision after a year of trying to resolve the issues.

This change means that HealthPartners clinics and hospitals, including Methodist, Regions, and Lakeview, will no longer be covered under UnitedHealthcare’s Medicare Advantage plan. HealthPartners plans to help those affected by this change by providing more information and resources. UnitedHealthcare said it had proposed solutions to keep HealthPartners in the network and is disappointed by their decision.
