Up to $10,350 Available for Affected Americans in NRS Data Breach Settlement
Claim Deadline for NRS Settlement Approaches as Data Breaches Rise
According to The US Sun, Americans can now claim up to $10,350 from a data breach settlement at Nevada Restaurant Services (NRS) and you don’t need to show receipts. This opportunity arises from a data breach where personal information, such as names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, passport numbers, health insurance information, medical records, and credit card numbers was leaked. Consumers argued that NRS had unauthorized access to sensitive information. Despite denying any wrongdoing NRS has agreed to a data breach settlement. This settlement offers several benefits to class members who are individuals affected by the data breach.
Class members can receive up to $350 for documented out-of-pocket expenses. Additionally, they can claim up to four hours of lost time dealing with the breach at $35 per hour. For more significant documented expenses they can claim up to $10,000. Beyond financial compensation NRS has agreed to provide 36 months of credit monitoring and identity theft protection with at least $1 million in fraud protection. NRS has sent written notifications to those eligible for the data breach settlement. The data breach occurred on or before January 16, 2021. The deadline for submitting claim forms online or by mail is September 17, 2024. Those who wish to exclude themselves from the settlement must do so by August 19, 2024. Individuals who do nothing will remain part of the data breach settlement. Data breaches have been increasingly common especially with more companies using cloud storage. In 2023, over 80% of data breaches involved cloud-stored data. Companies often settle class actions to avoid the costs and risks of further litigation.

This NRS settlement follows other significant settlements such as a $75 million data breach settlement offering $1,000 checks to affected individuals and a Dollar General settlement with the Department of Labor. For those affected by the NRS data breach this settlement offers a substantial opportunity to recover losses and gain protection against future identity theft.
