On Sunday dated June 30, Americans were shook by the tragic death of 29-year-old Yahorany “Nani” Popoca in a violent shooting incident close to La Fiesta Mexicana Restaurant. As police arrived to investigate allegations of shooting Yahorany Popoca she was found to be seriously injured, according to a report published by True Crime News. Yahorany Popoca eventually died at the hospital despite efforts to save her. The Florida man suspect who was identified as Rolando Zarate was swiftly identified thanks to Yahorany Popoca’s courageous call to 911 where she described Rolando Zarate before her tragic death. Rolando Zarate her estranged boyfriend and father of their children allegedly had fears that Yahorany Popoca would take their kids away from him leading to this fatal confrontation. Witnesses provided crucial details about Rolando Zarate’s vehicle which is a Ford Mustang and which led to a Be on the Lookout (BOLO) alert. With the assistance of a Winter Haven Police K-9 unit, Rolando Zarate’s car was located and after a brief attempt to escape he was apprehended.

Rolando Zarate Confesses to Shooting Yahorany Popoca

During police questioning at Haines City Police, Rolando Zarate reportedly confessed to the crime admitting to disposing of the firearm he used. The authorities later recovered the weapon. Rolando Zarate faces multiple charges including first-degree murder, aggravated stalking, and tampering with evidence among others. Chief Gregory Goreck of the Haines City Police expressed deep sympathy describing the incident as a senseless tragedy causing immeasurable loss to Yahorany Popoca’s family and loved ones. Rolando Zarate’s past includes accusations of drug-related offenses, domestic abuse, and other serious charges. The episode has left the community rattled and brought attention to the deadly effects of interpersonal fights.
