Pomona, California‘s COVID-19 Relief Program for Low-Income Households
Pomona Households Universal Grants Program: $500-$20 Monthly Support for 18 Months
Pomona, California is introducing an exciting new program to help its residents. According to MARCA, the Pomona Household Universal Grants Program aims to provide financial support to selected low-income households residents by giving them $500 a month for 18 months. This initiative is designed to assist low-income households families and individuals who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and other economic challenges. Residents of Pomona may begin applying for this financial aid on June 17 by visiting the FORWARD website. Up until July 9 at 1:00 AM Eastern Time or July 8 at 11:00 PM Pacific Time applications will be accepted. After the application period is up 600 low-income households will be selected by a lottery. These selected residents’ life will be greatly impacted by the monthly money they receive.
250 of the 600 low-income households applicants who were chosen will get $500 a month for a total of 18 months or $9,000. The remaining 350 applicants will receive $20 each month for the same duration. July 10, 2024 is when the selection process will take place and applications will be reviewed between July 10 and August 1. Applicants might need to update their documents during this time. For applicants to be eligible for this program they must fulfill a number of prerequisites. They must be Pomona residents and at least eighteen years old. They must also be a child’s parent or legal guardian if the child is less than four. In addition, candidates must meet one or more of the following requirements: residing in a Qualified Census Tract; being adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic; being eligible for Medicaid, MediCal, Federal Pell Grants, or the Children’s Health Insurance Program; or earning at least 65% of the Area Median Income for their household.
