According to True Crime News, the maximum sentence was given out to a former Mississippi police officer for a disturbing act while on duty. Michael Green a 26-year-old who admitted guilt to depriving someone of their civil rights under color of law was given a 12-month sentence in federal prison. Green detained a person known only as B.E. on December 23, 2023 in response to a reported disturbance at a retail establishment. In a detention cell B.E. told Green that he had to go to the bathroom. Following a long period of waiting B.E. In the cell’s corner someone urinated. Subsequently obtained surveillance footage exposed Green’s startling behavior. He was seen threatening B.E. with physical harm using a phone and then demanding that B.E. lick the urine from the floor. Green reportedly recorded videos of the humiliating act instructing B.E. to “suck it up” and not to spit it out despite B.E. gagging multiple times. At the time of the incident Green was an active Mississippi police officer with the Pearl Police Department. However, after the footage surfaced a few days later he lost his job. Green had served with the department for about six months and had previously worked with other law enforcement agencies in the area.
