Kari Lake Proposes Boosting Child Tax Credit Amid Concerns Over Declining U.S. Birth Rate

Arizona Senate Hopeful Kari Lake Advocates for Larger Child Tax Credit to Address Birth Rate Decline

According to WashingtonExaminer, Kari Lake, who’s running for Senate in Arizona, wants to make the child tax credit bigger to help tackle the drop in the number of babies being born in the U.S. She’s known for speaking out against illegal immigration and used to work as a TV news anchor. Lake thinks giving more money to families with kids could encourage more people to have children. She’s worried because the birth rate has gone down over the years, from 2.1 babies per woman in 2007 to 1.7 babies per woman in 2021.

Lake’s idea comes at a time when Republicans are debating what to do about family benefits and taxes. Some Republicans prefer to lower taxes instead of increasing benefits like the child tax credit. But Lake believes making the credit bigger is important for helping families grow. As she gets ready to run for Senate in Arizona, her stance on this issue is crucial because the election could decide who controls the Senate. Her opponent, Rep. Ruben Gallego, also thinks the child tax credit should be increased, showing how important this topic is for the upcoming election.
