Authorities were alerted to the scene on Pandola Avenue at approximately 11:10 a.m. responding swiftly to reports of a woman later identified as Melissa Aud-Headlee, 35 found in the street with multiple stab wounds. Alongside her lay her estranged husband, Michael Aud-Headlee, 32 also suffering from stab wounds. Despite efforts to save them both individuals were pronounced dead after being transported to Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center, according to the crime report of Chicago 5.
Melissa and Michael, in the midst of a divorce found themselves entangled in a deadly confrontation. Preliminary investigations by the Joliet Police Department suggest that the fatal altercation erupted when Michael arrived at Melissa’s residence. Faced with imminent danger Melissa attempted to flee only to be pursued by her estranged husband armed with a kitchen knife.
