DNR Accuses Patnode and Garrett of Illegally Killing Six Deer, Including a Big Buck and a Porcupine

According to Sanluisobispo, Nicholas Patnode, 19, and Zander Garrett, 20, faced court in Kalkaska County for illegal animal cruelty. Patnode got 11 charges, Garrett got three, for actions in 2022. They shot deer from a car and were cruel to animals, says the DNR. They illegally killed six deer, including a big buck, and a porcupine.

DNR Chief Urges Accountability for Patnode and Garrett to Deter Future Offenses

DNR Chief Jason Haines wants them punished to stop others from doing the same. Officers started investigating after a tip in 2022 and gathered evidence across Kalkaska County. Haines praised their work, aiming to hold Patnode and Garrett accountable.
